They say arrogance doesn't get you far in life.
So why, then, did it seem to get you so
settled into my heart? I accidentally let
you in much too far. You had a key to my
room, to my heart, to the window I
always kept locked, but somehow you
learned to climb through third story
windows. Either you were as desperate
as me or you were Spiderman. The words
that poured out from your mouth was
like acid rain, toxic, but so nice
to hear, to feel, to let settle under my skin
but always realize too late that it was burning
me alive. I craved the feeling of being loved,
but it was being given from a person who
was only capable of giving me what I wanted
to hear. In the end, your arrogance only got
you missed opportunities and a broken nose.
