the world is falling apart around us-
you don't have to go far to see that.
but at least here, i know i'm safe with you.

it's the lure of your soft expressions,
no hard lines from the hardships of life just yet
to spread cracks across rosy cheeks and dimpled smiles.

i find comfort in happy laughs,
teeth peeking through cracked lips,
honey-glazed brown eyes that are deeper than any ocean i've ever seen.

because here, in your arms,
we can at least pretend like the world has itself together
long enough to enjoy one another

before harsh realities set in-
not everything can be beautiful brilliance and sickeningly sweet metaphors.
this is a barrier that can not be overlooked, or put to the side, but-
